Arkansas man driving 1946 Chevrolet killed in 2-vehicle crash

A Mountain Home driver died Saturday after his vehicle was struck by another attempting to turn out of a Dollar General parking lot in Midway, state police said.

In a preliminary report, authorities said the crash occurred at 2 p.m. at Arkansas 5 and Arkansas 178 when a southbound 2014 GMC attempted to turn left from the parking lot onto Arkansas 5, striking a 1946 Chevrolet driven by 62-year-old Charles T. Martin.

Martin was killed in the crash, according to state police. His death was the 364th reported on an Arkansas road so far this year, based on preliminary information.

The driver of the GMC, 74-year-old Maurice Wood of Cotter, was hurt, authorities said. His condition was not immediately clear as of Monday morning.

Travel conditions at the time of the crash were described as partly cloudy and dry.
