LET'S DO LUNCH SOMETIME

Minority business owners build connections at event

Participants at the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce's 24th annual Minority Enterprise Development Week -- also known as MED Week -- dropped by chamber headquarters Sept. 7 for an early-evening networking reception.

Graham Cobb and Chauncey Holloman Pettis welcomed attendees at the event, which was hosted by the Small Business Task Force of the chamber board of directors.

Heavy appetizers, libations and music by Jay Jackson were on tap for attendees, who chatted and exchanged business cards. Cobb, during his short remarks, assured guests that the event had "no agenda whatsoever."

The week's purpose is to celebrate and increase minority businesses in the Little Rock region. The week also included a Sept. 5-6 "media takeover," conducted via Facebook and Twitter; Sept. 7 workshops; the Arkansas Small and Minority Business Matchmaking Conference on Sept 8; and a Sept. 9 awards luncheon whose main speaker was Janis Kearney, author/publisher and diarist to former President Bill Clinton.
