4 freshmen at UA get $70,000 grants

FAYETTEVILLE -- Four students in their first year at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville have been named Sturgis Fellows, each to receive $70,000 in grants over four years of study.

They are:

• Eamon Lauster, a graduate of Little Rock Central High School.

• Maya Ungar, a graduate of Fayetteville High School.

• Katja Wiederkehr, a graduate of Van Buren High School.

• Sidney Wilson, a graduate of Rogers High School.

The Sturgis Fellows program was established in 1985 at UA. It began through a gift from the Roy and Christine Sturgis Charitable and Educational Trust of Dallas.

To take part in the program, a student must pursue a major within UA's J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.

In addition to tuition, the grants cover expenses such as musical instruments and trips to academic conferences.
