A Cabot man was arrested Wednesday night after reportedly driving at a high speed toward his girlfriend without stopping, the Jacksonville Police Department said.

Phillip Tyler Jeter, 21, was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated assault on a family or household member after the mother of the woman reported the incident, according to a police report.

The mother told police that she, her daughter and another woman were walking along a street outside her daughter's house when she saw Jeter's car coming toward them. According to the report, Jeter began to steer toward his girlfriend and made no attempt to slow down or serve, the mother said. She and the other woman had to yell to get her daughter's attention to move out of the way, according to the report.

When police interviewed Jeter's girlfriend she confirmed the incident and said she and her boyfriend had been fighting since earlier that day, according to the report. She was visibly distraught and said Jeter had been repeatedly calling her threatening to kill himself, police added.

The Lonoke County sheriff's office found Jeter at his residence in Cabot around 10:36 p.m, police said. He was detained and transported to the Jacksonville Police Department.

A court date is scheduled for Oct. 6.
