2 in Little Rock kept heroin, meth in home next to Arkansas deaf, blind schools, police say

A Little Rock man and woman were arrested Wednesday on a handful of felony drug charges including maintaining a drug premises near a drug-free zone, according to the Pulaski County sheriff's office.

Officers arrested Michael Dean Wilson, 34, and Melissa Rae Compton, 28, around 4:23 p.m. after authorities searched their residence on a warrant and found roughly 80 grams of various substances including heroin, meth, Xanax and methadone, according to a police report.

The house, located at 2020 Riverview Drive, is about 800 feet from the Arkansas School for the Deaf and the Arkansas School for the Blind, police said.

Investigators also found three handguns in the home, one of which had been reported stolen in Little Rock, according to the report.

In addition to the drug premises charge, Wilson and Compton face charges of multiple counts of possessing Schedule I and II substances with purpose to sell, possessing drug paraphernalia, theft by receiving and simultaneous possession of guns and drugs, all of which are felonies, police said.

A court date is scheduled for Oct. 25.
