Cetera's fame began as the first lead singer of Chicago Transit Authority, later known as merely Chicago. Between 1968 and 1986 he sang his hometown group's hits "If You Leave Me Now," "Hard to Say I'm Sorry," "Baby What a Big Surprise," "You're the Inspiration" and "Feeling Stronger Every Day."
Opting to pursue a solo career in 1986, he recorded the hit songs "The Glory of Love" (from the movie The Karate Kid II,) "The Next Time I Fall" (with Amy Grant), "Feels Like Heaven" (with Chaka Kahn), "After All" (with Cher, from the movie, Chances Are) and "No Explanation" (from the film Pretty Woman).

The 17th annual Depot Days will be held on Front Street in downtown Newport on Friday and Saturday. Admission is free.
The festival will also feature a new display at the Rock 'n' Roll Highway 67 Museum, 201 Hazel St., of a piano from the legendary Porky's Club in Newport, that was used by all the touring musicians who performed there in the 1950s, '60s and '70s.
