15-minute closure of I-49 set today

The removal of an overhead power line spanning Interstate 49 in Benton County will require the closing of all lanes for 15 minutes early today, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

All northbound and southbound traffic will be halted from 6:45 a.m. to 7 a.m. between Wagon Wheel Road in Springdale and Arkansas 264 in Lowell, weather permitting.

The Arkansas State Police and the Lowell Police Department will control traffic, which will be stopped prior to the off-ramps to allow traffic to exit the interstates, the department said.

The work is part of a $100.6 million project to construct about 4 miles of the new U.S. 412 northern bypass from I-49 to Arkansas 112.
