Maintenance by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Bull Shoals Dam will require the long-term lane closure of a section of Arkansas 178 on the dam beginning Monday, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.
All lanes will be closed on the bridge from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Only the westbound lane will be closed full-time beginning Wednesday, when a portable traffic signal will be installed to govern the use of the one lane available for traffic in both directions. The westbound lane will be closed through May.
The work to refurbish floodgates on the dam will require additional closures of no more than two days each as equipment is moved along the dam, the department said.
