Lip Sync Battle croons to tune of $15,000 for Cancer Society

Although the judges were advised that cuteness didn't count, it certainly didn't hurt the Courtney-Moore family who won this year's Lip Sync Battle on Sept. 16 by performing to a mashup of Taylor Swift's Trouble, Blank Space and Bad Blood.

Alyson Courtney with her husband, Wess Moore, and their two daughters, Brooklyn Courtney-Moore and Berkeley Courtney-Moore, plus friends Owen Smith and Ryan Allen, took home the top prize, a giant World Wrestling Federation wrestling belt, at the fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

The event brought local celebrities and television and radio personalities to the stage at Ron Robinson Theater to lip sync to a wide variety of songs, all in the name of fun. Performers included North Little Rock police officer Tommy Norman; former Razorback Anthony Lucas; Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin as Elvis; a crew from Cumulus Radio performing a hilarious version of "Can't Keep My Hands to Myself"; and Matt DeCample lip syncing to David Bowie's "Heroes."

If there was a best prop award, event organizer Danny-Joe Crofford's performance with Alyson Courtney and Dawn Scott would have won. While Crofford lip synced to AC/DC's ''For Those About to Rock'' and Courtney "jammed" on guitar, Scott rolled on to the stage sitting on top of a real cannon as streamers were shot over the crowd. Winning the People's Choice Award was The THV Homies performing to Rhianna's ''Work.''

Judging the acts on their stage presence, creativity and lip syncing skills were Lisa Fischer, Tom Wood, Jana DeGeorge and Renee Shapiro. Master of ceremonies was Craig O'Neill.

This is the second year for the event which helped raise $15,000 for American Cancer Society.
