HENDRIX 42, MILLSAPS 14

Quarterback Seth Peters completed 25 of 32 passes for 350 yards and 4 touchdowns to lead Hendrix (3-0, 1-0 Southern Athletic Association) over Millsaps (1-3, 0-2) in front of 2,125 at Harper Davis Stadium in Jackson, Miss. Peters threw two touchdown passes in the second quarter, then added one each in the third and fourth quarters.

Dayton Winn rushed for 152 yards on 11 carries and scored his only touchdown on a 66-yard run with 10:49 left in the first quarter to give the Warriors a 7-0 lead. Hendrix expanded the lead to 14-0 in the second before the Majors cut the deficit to eight with 4:02 left in the quarter, but Peters found Ben Luedtke on a 51-yard touchdown pass to give the Warriors a 28-6 halftime advantage.

Hendrix put the game out of reach with two touchdowns within a minute of each other early in the fourth quarter — one on Mason Millsap’s 4-yard touchdown run, the other on a 67-yard pass from Peters to Spencer Smith.

The Warriors outgained the Majors 546-370 in total offense. Millsaps gained 207 yards on the ground to Hendrix’s 196.

BACONE 34, LYON 21

Lyon couldn’t hold a third-quarter lead on the road as Bacone scored the game’s final 16 points in both teams’ Central States Football League opener in front of a crowd of 554 at the Indian Bowl in Muskogee, Okla.

Lyon (1-4, 0-1) led 21-18 midway through the third quarter after a 19-yard touchdown run by Michael Bowles, but Bacone (1-3, 1-0) came right back when Trey Steward found Antonio Wilson on a 22-yard touchdown pass that gave the Warriors the lead for good with 5:49 left in the third.

Seward added a 3-yard touchdown pass to Erik King with 6:12 remaining in the fourth quarter for the game’s final points.

The Scots had 277 yards of total offense, with 184 coming on the ground. Bowles led the team with 93 yards rushing on 19 carries. Quarterback Micah Wall had 45 yards rushing, including a 38-yard score that gave the visitors an early 7-0 lead in the opening quarter. Wall was 10-of-22 passing for 93 yards and a 40-yard touchdown pass to Trent Webb with 2:22 left in the second quarter.

Cedric Cooney led the Lyon defense with 10 tackles, including the team’s only sack.
