"Nature Studies" -- Two25 Gallery and Wine Bar will host a reception for Carol Cooper's "Nature Studies" from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 6 at the gallery, 225 S. Main St. in Bentonville. Nature Studies is Cooper's latest work on paper and canvas, the works ranging in style from loose realism to abstraction using watercolor and acrylic. "From the Eye of an Artist" -- "I believe that art is a journey, but you can never reach your destination because, with every painting, you learn new lessons," says artist Dede Hutcherson. The opening reception will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Art Gallery, Windgate Visual Arts West, John Brown University in Siloam Springs. "Cycles: Transformation, Spheres and Nature" -- The Fayetteville Underground will host a First Thursday opening reception from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 6 at 101 W. Mountain St., Suite 222 in Fayetteville. This exhibition showcases new series of work from three longtime local artists -- other worldly photography of Alli Woods Frederick, conceptual sculpture from Hank Kaminsky and the fusing of glass and root by Cheri Bohn. "Eye to Eye" -- The Ed Cooley Gallery will unveil Cooley's first major wildlife release 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 7 at the gallery at 115 S. Second St. in Rogers. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to "Defenders of Wildlife" to conserve habitat and protect endangered species around the world. edcooleygallery.com.

"Women of Abstraction" -- Will hold a reception for their October exhibition 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 8 at Keel's Creek Winery and Art Gallery, 3185 E. Van Buren in Eureka Springs. "Scenic Meditation" -- Jaquita Ball, of Red Cat Art Studio in Bentonville, recently installed a second, simultaneous show in downtown Bentonville titled "Scenic Meditation." The exhibition, which ends Oct. 9, is an acrylic-based painting series of meditative scenes interpreted from Ball's plein aire painting and her extensive collection of personal photographs of Northwest Arkansas and her travels in the American Southwest. "In Which We Dwell" -- The sUgAR Gallery of the University of Arkansas will have an opening for "In Which We Dwell" 5:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 13 at 1 E. Center St. on the downtown Fayetteville square featuring work from Hilary Baker, Tyler Beard, Andrew Blanchard, Adam Edberg, Matthew F. Fisher and Ron Lambert. This exhibition, which utilizes John Burnside's poetry as a conceptual root, will present a collection of work by artists dealing with ideas concerning the physical aspects of life and the environments in which we reside. "The Art of Transcendence" -- Fort Smith's Regional Art Museum is holding its annual national competitive exhibition ending Oct. 16. All works are for sale and proceeds benefit RAM's exhibitions and participating artists. fsram.org.

"Sensory Iconoclasts" -- The Arts Center of the Ozarks' fourth annual Sensory Iconoclasts project will end Oct. 16 at the ACO in Springdale. The exhibition pairs Northwest Arkansas chefs with area artists and asks them to collaborate on a theme. acozarks.org.

Oct. 22

"The Art of American Dance" -- This exhibition, the first major traveling exhibition to explore American visual art related to the many forms of dance, features 90 works by iconic and wide-ranging artists such as John Singer Sargent, Mary Cassatt, Nick Cave and Faith Ringgold and examines dance-inspired paintings, prints, sculptures, and photographs from the 1830s to the recent past, on view Oct. 22 to Jan. 16 at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville. crystalbridges.org.

White Lotus -- The October Art Show at White Lotus Salon & Massage includes paintings, photography, mixed media, jewelry and pottery plus work by Red Star from her "Torn Heart" series. White Lotus will also be displaying works by Marlene Samuel, F. Lee Green, Karl Killian, Matt Courtney, Ed Laningham and M. A. Long. "Maidenhair" -- Artwork by Laura Wattles, creative director at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith, is on display until Oct. 31 in an exhibit at in the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center at 5210 Grand Ave. The works signify the evolution of Wattles as an artist, as she transitioned from photorealism to the loose and playful brushstrokes that define the paintings in the exhibit. 788-7300.

"Shaking Hands and Kissing Babies: The Road to the White House" -- Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art will host this display from the Museum of Democracy, The Wright Family Collection now through Jan. 9. The exhibition examines the history and power of visual advertising in political campaigns of American leaders from George Washington to Barack Obama. crystalbridges.org.
