BENTONVILLE -- A Rogers man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 3-year-old girl.

Damon Christian Perez, 24, pleaded guilty Wednesday to first-degree sexual assault, a Class A felony; and second-degree sexual assault, a Class B felony. He faced from six to 30 years in prison for first-degree sexual assault and five to 20 years for the other sexual assault charge.

The plea came under an agreement attorney Jay Saxton reached with Carly Marshall, deputy prosecutor.

Perez was arrested Jan. 21.

The girl's mother reported Jan. 13 Perez inappropriately touched her daughter, according to court documents.

The girl was interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center of Benton County and provided details of being sexually abused by Perez, according to the probable cause affidavit. The interviewer used anatomical dolls to help obtain information from the child.

Police interviewed Perez, who initially denied inappropriately touching the girl, according to court documents. Perez later admitted engaging in sexual contact with the girl.

Benton County Circuit Judge Brad Karren accepted the plea agreement and Perez's guilty pleas.

Perez was sentenced to 25 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction for first-degree sexual assault. He was given a 20-year suspended sentence for second-degree sexual assault. Perez will be required to register as a sex offender.
