State police investigating officer-involved shooting in Beebe

8:45 p.m. UPDATE:

Arkansas State Police are investigating after Beebe police shot a person while executing a search warrant Friday afternoon, a department spokesman said.

Police responded at around 4:05 p.m. to 2100 Kamak Drive to conduct a search warrant, said Bill Sadler, spokesman for the Arkansas State Police.

When police entered the house, they found an individual pointing a firearm at them, he said.

Police shot the person and the individual was transported to the White County Medical Center in Searcy, he said.

The medical condition of the shooting victim was unknown as of Friday night.

Arkansas State Police agents were dispatched to Beebe on a report of an officer-involved shooting, an official said.

Bill Sadler, a state police spokesman, said agents hadn't arrived in Beebe yet to confirm if such a shooting had occurred.

A dispatcher for Beebe police declined to release any information on a possible shooting.

Sadler said the agents would begin investigating once they arrived.
