SHERIDAN -- Authorities have charged a Sheridan woman with first-degree murder in connection with the death of her 4-month-old son.
Akela Bowman, 25, also known as Akela Shylo Gosa, was arrested Thursday and released on a $25,000 bond, Sheridan police detective Mike Thomas said.
Police went to Bowman's home Jan. 25 after her grandfather called medical personnel about the boy. When officers arrived, they found paramedics trying to revive the child.
A news release issued by the Sheridan Police Department said the boy died "due to malnutrition."
Thomas said he could not comment further on the case.
Bowman will be arraigned May 16 in Grant County Circuit Court, Thomas said.
