The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra is kicking back and going casual with its annual Beethoven & Blue Jeans concerts, 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at Robinson Center Performance Hall, West Markham Street and Broadway, Little Rock. Before the concert, which includes selections by Beethoven, Bruch and Sibelius, enjoy free brats, low-price beer and music from the Episcopal Collegiate School Steel Band at the Beer & Brats street party, 5:30-7 p.m. Saturday and 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday. Concert tickets, $14-$67, $10 for students and active duty military, include admission to the party. The Arkansas World War I Centennial Commemoration Committee this week is kicking off a series of events marking the 100th anniversary of the United States' entrance into World War I:

• A dedication of the new Broadway Bridge to veterans of all wars, featuring the Brass Quintet of the 106th Army Band, 4 p.m. today at the south-end parking lot, Dickey-Stephens Park, East Broadway, North Little Rock.

• "Arkansas and the Great War: Remembering 1917," the official Arkansas centennial commemoration kickoff, will feature an address by Gov. Asa Hutchinson, living history demonstrations, games and musical performances, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Old State House Museum, 300 W. Markham St., Little Rock. 3 BASEBALL

Spring means baseball and America's pastime returns to Little Rock with opening day at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock. The Arkansas Travelers take on the Corpus Christi Hooks at 7:10 p.m. today. Home games against the Hooks continue at 7:10 p.m. Friday and 6:10 p.m. Saturday. University of Arkansas at Little Rock Opera Theatre students Hannah Blacklaw, Kyra Hatley, Andrew Gerstenberger, Kelly Singer, Alyssa Hicks and Daniel Foltz-Morrison will perform "Opera Tales: From Fanciful to Grimm," 7:30 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Sunday in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall, Fine Arts building, UALR, 2801 S. There are three races in this year's Junior League of Little Rock Downtown Dash, Saturday at the Junior League Building, Fourth and Scott streets. The Kids' 1K Fun Run starts at 8 a.m. followed by the 10K and 5K at 8:30. The run through downtown passes by Little Rock landmarks and ends with a party and awards ceremony where all finishers will receive medals. The Arkansas Roots Music Festival, 1-5:30 p.m. Saturday at Jonesboro's City Water and Light Park, 1123 S. Culberhouse St., will feature the Vikki McGee 3 and the Natural Disasters; Jonesboro-based acoustic band Sky City; Americana quartet Apple, Rounds, Cobb and Hees; and Memphis blues and R&B singer Sweet Angel. The festival closes out Arkansas State University's annual Delta Symposium. Pets, lawn chairs and picnic lunches are OK.
