Dillard's gains 3.9% as index adds 1.92

The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, gained 1.92 to 343.66 Monday.

"The major averages fluctuated on the session as energy shares rose and investors digested geopolitical concerns," said Bob Williams, senior vice president and managing director of Simmons First Investment Group Inc. in Little Rock.

Dillard's shares rose 3.9 percent on average volume.

Total volume for the index was 17.9 million shares.

The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
