Bypass work to close Lowell road for 15-minute intervals

Crews placing steel bridge beams related to work on a new U.S. 412 bypass will require closing all lanes on West Apple Blossom Avenue in Lowell for multiple 15-minute periods today and Friday, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

The intermittent closures, which began Tuesday, will take place between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., weather permitting, with all eastbound and westbound traffic stopped between South Goad Springs Road and Kinkade Place. Traffic will be controlled using signs and flaggers, the department said.

The work is part of a $100.6 million project to build the four-lane bypass from Interstate 40 to Arkansas 112 to provide a principal east-west route north of the Springdale area.
