Police arrested Jesse Collins, 36, early Monday near the scene of the crime in Malvern in the death of Bobby Andrew Moore, 21, Malvern police Lt. Curtis Kyle said.

Kyle said Collins was arrested on charges of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by certain persons, a felon.

The two men knew each other, Kyle said. He declined comment on a motive.

When officers arrived late Sunday night at the crime scene on Louisiana Street, Kyle said, a crowd was present and someone had taken the victim to a hospital. Collins was reported to have fled the scene and entered a nearby house, Kyle said.

Collins "didn't respond to us," Kyle said. "There was no indication of a hostage situation. We did force entry into the residence and took him into custody without incident."

Collins was being held in the Hot Spring County jail in Malvern.
