Crashes in state kill 3 people

Three people have died in separate accidents on Arkansas roads.

A central Arkansas motorcyclist died five days after a two-vehicle crash in Conway, state police said Wednesday.

According to a preliminary crash report, Stephen Paul Kenney, 69, of Conway was riding a Yamaha V95 motorcycle on U.S. 64 about noon Friday when it collided with a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Susan Jane Kahon, 74, of Dover. The Chevrolet was making a left turn onto East Oak Street, according to a state police report.

Police said Kenney was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He died of his injuries about 9 a.m. Wednesday, according to the report.

Ruth Marshall, 82, of De Queen died April 13 when the 2017 Mercedes in which she was riding collided with a 1998 Peterbilt truck on Arkansas 70 near New Hope, according to a state police report released Wednesday.

About 5:20 p.m. on April 13, the driver of the Mercedes was making a left-hand turn when the vehicle was hit by the truck, police said. Both vehicles were westbound.

On Tuesday, Kenneth McCain, 51, of Forrest City was killed about 7:50 p.m. on Arkansas 1 south of Colt, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Police said McCain's Dodge rear-ended a 2007 Toyota traveling in the same direction and sent that vehicle into a ditch. Then, the Dodge veered off the roadway into the ditch, struck an embankment and overturned, the report said.

McCain suffered fatal injuries. The Toyota's driver, 43-year-old Stacy Baskins of Colt, was reportedly injured and taken to Regional One Health in Memphis.

Police said the roads were clear, and the weather was dry at the time.
