Roundabout work set in Bentonville

Work on the Bella Vista bypass roundabout and its approach ramps in Bentonville will require lane closures for parts of this week and next, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

Crews will be placing final asphalt surface on the roundabout and approach ramps at the intersection with Interstate 49, U.S. 71 and North Walton Boulevard, and will require lanes to be alternately closed from the I-49 southbound exit ramp to North Walton Boulevard to about a half-mile south of I-49 on North Walton.

One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction, but motorists should anticipate traffic stops for 15-minute intervals at some ramp locations, the department said. I-49 traffic won't be affected.

The lane closures, which will last from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, weather permitting, will begin on Wednesday and go through Saturday. The closures will resume Monday and end May 3.

The work is part of a project to construct a 6-mile bypass, also called Arkansas 549/Future I-49, from U.S. 71B to Arkansas 72.
