Work to close roads, trail in Benton County

ROGERS -- Construction on Interstate 49 will require overnight lane closings on New Hope Road.

Crews will work on the I-49 overpass at New Hope Road, Exit 83, beginning Wednesday night, according to Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department officials. The work will alternately close the inside and outside lanes of east and west New Hope Road between South Pinnacle Hills Parkway and South Promenade Boulevard. Lane closings will be from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday morning, weather permitting.

Also beginning Wednesday night, construction on the Bella Vista Bypass will require lane closings in Bentonville, according to highway officials.

Crews will place final asphalt surface on the bypass roundabout and approach ramps at the intersection with I-49 and North Walton Boulevard. Lanes alternately will be closed from the I-49 south exit ramp to North Walton Boulevard, Exit 93, to about a half-mile south of I-49 on North Walton Boulevard. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction; however, motorists should anticipate traffic stops for 15-minute intervals at some ramp locations. Mainline I-49 traffic will not be affected.

The lane closings will be from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and May 1 through May 3, weather permitting.

Also, construction to widen I-49 will require a section of the Arkansas Missouri Trail at Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville to be temporarily closed, according to highway officials.

Trail reconstruction will require closing the trail that crosses below I-49 between Phyllis Street and Southeast Eagle Way from May 1 through May 5.
