Body found near Arkansas River identified as man reported missing more than a week ago

4:30 P.M. UPDATE:

Officials have identified the body found Tuesday near a public access area on the Arkansas River in the western part of the state.

Corby O. Campbell, 29, had been reported missing by a friend on April 16, according to a release from the Sebastian County sheriff's office.

Campbell is originally from the Paris area but had lately been living Lavaca, officials said.

The sheriff's office is working with the Lavaca Police Department in the death investigation. The body has been taken to the state Crime Lab to determine a cause of death.

LAVACA — Authorities say a body has been found near the Arkansas River in a public access area in western Arkansas.

Sebastian County Sheriff's Capt. Philip Pevehouse says the body was found Tuesday afternoon in the Vache Grasse Public Access area near Lavaca.

Pevehouse says the body is being sent to the state Crime Lab to determine the cause of death.

He says the person's name is not being released, but said it is not either of two people missing since a boating accident in the river on Sunday in neighboring Le Flore County, Okla.
