Companies reporting quarterly earnings Tuesday included:
Caterpillar Inc., the machinery maker, a profit of $192 million, or 32 cents a share, down from $271 million, or 46 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose to $9.82 billion. Shares rose $7.61 to close Tuesday at $104.42.
Coca-Cola Co., the maker of Fanta, Sprite and Smartwater, a profit of $1.18 billion, or 27 cents a share, down from $1.48 billion, or 34 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue fell 11 percent to $9.12 billion. Shares fell 17 cents to $43.11.
JetBlue, the airline, a profit of $85 million, or 25 cents a share, down from $207 million, or 61 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue fell less than 1 percent to $1.6 billion. Shares rose 72 cents to $22.47.
McDonald’s Corp., the world’s biggest burger chain, a profit of $1.21 billion, or $1.47 per share, from $1.12 billion, or $1.25 a share, a year ago. Revenue was $5.68 billion. Shares rose $7.47 to $141.70.
