An Arkansas State Police pursuit ended in a crash Wednesday morning on Interstate 430 in Little Rock, causing a major traffic backup in the area.

Trooper Liz Chapman said the troopers pulled over a vehicle on eastbound Interstate 30 after getting "six or seven" calls about it driving recklessly on the highway.

But the driver sped off after stopping, touching off a high-speed chase that moved onto northbound I-430, Chapman said.

The fleeing driver crashed around 11 a.m. near the David O. Dodd Road overpass, which is south of Colonel Glenn Road, Chapman said. He was taken to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. The man, whose name was not released, was said to be in good condition later Wednesday.

It wasn't clear what charges the man would face.

The crash for a time blocked all northbound I-430 lanes, backing up traffic for more than a mile. By noon, the highway was cleared.
