Travs use 3-run second, Unsworth to top Drillers

TRAVELERS 3, DRILLERS 2

The Arkansas Travelers made their three-run second inning stand up Tuesday as starter Dylan Unsworth allowed single runs in the first and seventh innings in the Travs' 3-2 victory over the Tulsa Drillers in front of a crowd of 3,494 at ONEOK Field in Tulsa.

Kyle Waldrop, who finished 2 for 4 and was the only Travelers player with more than one hit, started the second inning with a single to right field and moved to third on Marcus Littlewood's single. After Kyle Petty struck out, Chantz Mack walked to load the bases. A passed ball by Drillers catcher Wynston Sawyer allowed Waldrop to score and tied the game at 1-1. After Jay Baum struck out, Joey Wong followed with a two-run double to left-center field that gave the Travs a 3-1 lead.

The Drillers scored in the bottom of the first when Kyle Garlick reached on a Baum throwing error with one out. They cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Edwin Rios, who doubled to start the inning and finished 3 for 4, scored on Matt Beaty's RBI single to right-center field.

Unsworth (1-1) got the victory after allowing both of Tulsa's runs on 6 hits with 1 walk and 8 strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings. Peter Tago got his first save of the season after allowing 1 hit with 1 strikeout in the ninth inning.
