• Chelsey Penix, 29, of 4377 W. Franciscan Trail in Fayetteville was arrested Wednesday in connection with second-degree domestic battering. Penix was at the Washington County Detention Center with no bond Wednesday.

• Joseph Smith, 56, 2619 N. Quality Lane in Fayetteville was arrested Tuesday in connection with possession of a controlled substance with the intent of delivering and possession of drug paraphernalia. Smith was at the Washington County Detention Center with no bond Wednesday.

Springdale

• Omar Avila-Zepda, 26, of 801 W. Bailey Ave. in Springdale was arrested Wednesday in connection with first-degree domestic battering and violation of a no-contact order. Avila-Zepda was at the Washington County Detention Center with no bond Wednesday.

• Iliana Hernandez-Lamos, 21, of 1500 Ione Place, Apt. 101 in Springdale was arrested Wednesday in connection with first-degrees domestic battering. Hernandez-Lamos was at the Washington County Detention Center with no bond Wednesday.

Fire

Farmington

• Firefighters put out a fire started by lightning at 6:27 a.m. Wednesday at 608 N. Mcleod Drive. Fayetteville, Farmington and Wedington firefighters put out the fire. The home, owned by Dustin and Lyndsey Weber, is worth about $381,900, county property records show. Firefighters found some hotspots in the attic, but there was not much damage.

Wedington

• Firefighters put out a fire that destroyed a home at 8:53 p.m. Tuesday at 15449 Quail Road in Farmington. No one was home when the fire started, said Jerry Peters, Wedington Volunteer Fire Department fire chief. Fayetteville, Farmington, Wheeler and Wedington firefighters contained the fire in about 10 minutes, but the home could not be saved, Peters said. The 31-year-old home was worth about $68,900 and is owned by Billy and Regina Broadwell, according to property records. A county fire marshal deputy is investigating the cause of the fire, Peters said.

Police

Fayetteville

• Police are investigating after a man walked into the Fast Trax at 1240 N. Garland Ave. at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday and used a handgun to demand money from an employee. The man fled on foot with an undisclosed amount, Sgt. Craig Stout said in a message Wednesday. Police are looking for a Hispanic man in his 20s who was wearing a shirt that said "Let's Get Weird."
