Humanism apostle to speak at church

Roy Speckhardt, author and executive director of the American Humanist Association, will speak at 2 p.m. today at Unitarian Universalist Church of Little Rock, 1818 Reservoir Road, Little Rock.

Speckhardt promotes the humanist perspective and will talk about the modern humanist movement and its approach to social issues.

A question-and-answer period will follow his presentation, and copies of his book, Creating Change Through Humanism, will be available.

Speckhardt has appeared on CNN Headline News (now HLN), Fox News and various radio shows, and has traveled across the United States to speak about humanist issues.

He also will speak at 11 a.m. Sunday at the church during a program titled "Creating Change Through Humanism."
