The Cathedral of St. Andrew was the setting at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 22, for the marriage of Dr. Mallory Brannon Shiver and Dr. Matthew Raymond Abate. Officiants were the Rev. Keith A. Pellerin of Lake Charles, La., and Deacon William Bowen.

Laura and John Shiver of Little Rock are the parents of the bride. Her grandparents are Sallye and the late Del Brannon and Christine and the late Colin Shiver, all of Pine Bluff.

The bridegroom is the son of Sally and Frank Abate of Lake Charles. He is the grandson of the late Virgie and J.D. Briggs and the late Vincent Savoy, all also of Lake Charles.

Nuptial music was by organist Beau Baldwin.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a dark ivory ballgown embellished with clear beading and lace. She carried a bouquet of roses, white hydrangeas and ranunculus and Queen Anne's Lace.

Sally Shiver Clowers of Forth Worth was her sister's matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Abigail Arnold, Lindsey Gillham and Hannah Higgs, all of Little Rock; Kara Willis of Fayetteville; Alicia Schnebelen of Dallas; and Caitlin Quinn of Washington. They carried smaller versions of the bridal bouquet and wore off-the-shoulder gowns of dune-colored chiffon.

Flower girls were Emmy Nelson and Finley Nelson, both Little Rock.

Best man was Kevin Ethridge of ­McKinney, Texas. Groomsmen were Beau Higginbotham, Kyle Nester and Tyler Abate, brother of the bridegroom, all of Lake Charles; George Jordan and Brian Trouard, both of Houston; and Matthew Hendrich of Jonesboro. Guests were seated by Ted Clowers of Fort Worth and Jacob Breaux of New Orleans.

A reception in Dreamland Ballroom followed the ceremony. Tables were decorated with candles, tall lanterns and blue and white Chinese porcelain belonging to their family. Vases were filled with flowering branches and peach and pink wedding flowers. Music was by Funkytown of Memphis.

The bride has a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and a medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She is chief resident physician in dermatology at UAMS.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a bachelor's degree in biology and from LSU-New Orleans with a medical degree. He is chief resident physician in vascular surgery at UAMS.

The couple will live in St. Louis and take a honeymoon after their residencies.
