Earnings report

Companies reporting quarterly earnings Tuesday included:

• Peabody Energy Corp., the nation's largest coal producer, a profit of $98.7 million, or 21 cents a share, up from a loss of $226 million, or $12.46 a share, a year ago. Revenue was $1.26 billion. Shares rose $2.06 to close Tuesday at $30.10.

• Pfizer Inc., the drug company, a profit of $3.07 billion, or 51 cents a share, up from $2.05 billion, or 33 cents per share, a year ago. Revenue fell 2 percent to $12.9 billion. Shares fell 8 cents to close at $33.08.

• Sprint Corp., the wireless carrier, a profit of $206 million, or 5 cents a share, up from a loss of $302 million, or 8 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose about 2 percent to $8.16 billion. Shares rose 89 cents to close at $8.87.

• Under Armour Inc., the sportswear maker, a loss of $12.3 million, or 3 cents a share, from a loss of $52.7 million, or 12 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose about 9 percent to $1.09 billion. Shares fell $1.88 to close at $16.23.
