RUNWAY TO DRIVEWAY

Camp Sunshine fundraiser features cars, food, couture

Whether interested in horsepower or high fashion, there was plenty to see at Heels and Wheels on July 30 at the Metroplex. The afternoon event was a fundraiser for Camp Sunshine, a camp for young burn survivors.

The day started with a car and motorcycle show. Prizes were given to vehicle owners in a variety of categories such as best paint job, best classic truck or best antique motorcycle.

Inside, guests enjoyed barbecue and drinks, music and a fashion show featuring styles designed by Linda Rowe Thomas and clothes from Culture Clothing Co. Post-show music was by the Little Rock band Good Foot.

The fundraiser was hosted by Ray of Sunshine and the Designing Hope Foundation with help from the magazine Local, Arkansas Children's Hospital and A-State Motorcycle Club.

Camp Sunshine, according to Director Gretta Wilkinson, is for burn survivors ages 4 to 21 with the goal of helping them achieve social acceptance and promote confidence and self-esteem. There is no cost to the children who attend.
