Jimmy "Daddy" Davis will perform for a 6:30 p.m. Saturday celebration of the second anniversary of solar-powered community radio station KUHS-LP, 97.9, at SQZBX Pizza and Beer in Hot Springs. Admission is $25.

(SQZBX Pizza and Beer adjoins KUHS and is not yet open. Proceeds from the Saturday event will go to the operation of the radio station.)

Davis, a singer-songwriter, is a Memphis native, now based in Austin, Texas. His songs have been recorded by Martina McBride, Walt Wilkins, Restless Heart, Tommy Alverson and Reba Russell. His ties to Hot Springs began in the late 1970s and early 1980s, when he performed at the old Sawmill Depot and later for the Keith Sykes songwriter festivals at the Arlington Hotel.

Launching his career as the leader of Jimmy Davis & Junction, Davis and his band had a hit single with "Kick the Wall," which also was a hit MTV video and the name of the group's 1987 debut album. In 1996, Davis and one of his band members departed and started another group, the Riverbluff Clan.
