Lockheed Martin has delivered the first Army Tactical Missile System missile to the U.S. Army from the company's new production facility in Camden, the defense contractor announced Thursday.
The Bethesda, Md.-based company is under contract to deliver 124 of the new missiles to the U.S. Army and an international customer, according to a news release. The program is in full-rate production at Lockheed Martin's Precision Fires Production Center of Excellence in Camden.
The system is billed as the Army's only tactical long-range deep precision-strike surface-to-surface missile. It has a range of 180 miles.
Back in May 2015, Lockheed Martin announced it had received a $174 million foreign military sales contract for production of the missile for the Army and the United Arab Emirates.
Lockheed Martin has produced more than 3,800 of the missiles, with more than 600 fired in combat.
