— Dalton Wagner injured his foot. Non-surgical, nothing broken, but a 4-6 week timetable for healing. They'll make a decision on whether to redshirt or not. River Warnock severely pulled his hamstring and was taken off the 105. Gary Cross tweaked his hamstring. Jake Raulerson was rolled up Thursday and didn't scrimmage, but should be good to go next week. Briston Guidry went home because his grandmother passed. Will re-join the team next week. Josh Harris injured his foot and will have about a 10-week recovery.

— Lot of good work in the scrimmage. Rolled some twos in with ones. Covered all down-and-distance scenarios. Dre Greenlaw and Scoota Harris played in the first half and "were very productive, very dominant." Austin Allen was very productive and active.

— Cole Kelley was impressive. Ty Storey was good during the week.

— "Chase Hayden is a guy who belongs on the field." Feels good about the 3 RBs. Compared them to his Wisconsin days.

— Jeremy Patton got some extended play at TE. Has to get in better shape but looked good. TE position is an entertaining crew.

— Deon Stewart does a lot of good things. Jordan Jones "has to decide to grow up." Got on him after. La'Michael Pettway played well.

— OL was good other than its first series. Colton Jackson has been good. Have to continue to press Jonathan Gibson and Brian Wallace.

— Cole Kelley is the No. 2 punter and hit 2 55-yard punts.

— Josh Liddell has probably had the 14 best practices of his career. Plays within his capabilities. Always in the right position, in the right spot.

— Called older guys into a meeting last night to tell them the freshmen are coming and they're not going to sit them. Mentioned Kamren Curl, Chevin Calloway, Hayden Henry and Ty Clary.

— "Everything is in order" with Montaric Brown. Best case is to get him in there Monday or Tuesday. Unless someone drops out of the 105, he'll be back next week.

— Curl is very genetically gifted. Family pushes him. Has the size to play corner or safety. Very physical and plays the ball. Him and Calloway have separated themselves as guys who'll play.

— Had mild weather like this at Wisconsin. Other than the mock game, all practices during days. Took the team to see Girls Trip. Likes the way this group works.

— Carson Proctor and Jack Lindsey are two walk-ons battling it out for the No. 4 spot. Something about Lindsey's genes, "Jack's just got that something to him." Proctor very productive. Turned down probably 8-10 non-Power 5 Division 1 offers to chase his dream.

— Big personnel meeting tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. Not concerned over the first half of next week, but need to have an idea who the backup QB is when you're about 2 weeks out. Ty Storey performed better Tuesday than Cole Kelley did Wednesday, but the way Kelley played today might have flipped it.

— Foot injuries are pretty common. Another team has had 6 foot fractures since spring. Their numbers are in line with other teams. The 2 most affected position groups in the NFL are WRs and LBs. "Today's athletes are bigger, stronger and faster and everyone wants that shoe to get lighter."

— Not worried about the solar eclipse.

— Re-done the visiting locker room to make it the home locker room. Opponents will use the old cheerleading locker room. Will simulate the Hog walk in the fall next week. Will also have a mock game.

— If they had to play tomorrow, Cole Hedlund would probably be the starter, but "my man Maserati" has been impressive.

— Don't know how much more tackling they'll do with as well as they've tackled. Maybe the younger guys.

— Kelley's ability to also throw the ball makes him intriguing at punter.

— Devwah Whaley and David Williams both made some nice cuts. Both need to work on pass protection, but they aren't allowing either to cut block.

— "Thinks that's fair" to suggest Hayden is doing the best job of the backs making something out of nothing. His dad taught him how to run big.
