UPDATE:

All lanes of Interstate 430 have reopened after they were closed by a police standoff Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

Sgt. Brian Dedrick said officers were headed to the Big Dam Bridge to investigate a report of a possibly suicidal person. Before arriving, an officer spotted the person's Ford F-250 pickup and tried to pull it over.

That touched off a pursuit that continued onto I-430, Dedrick said. The pickup pulled off south of I-430, and authorities shut down the northbound highway because they didn't know if the driver was armed.

Negotiators later convinced the driver to surrender, and he was transported to a local hospital, Dedrick said. There was a gun in the vehicle, Dedrick said.

The driver's identity has not been released, but authorities described him as an adult white man.
