A tiger's best friend

His name is Amir Khalil, a veterinarian, and the tiger's is Dana, whom Dr. Khalil accompanied from a zoo that is now no more. Like much of the ravaged city of Aleppo in Syria, which has been destroyed in the fierce fighting among this planet's most ferocious species, Homo allegedly sapiens.

Dr. Khalil accompanied his pregnant patient out of the city that had become a battle zone and across the Jordanian border to a wildlife reserve, where she gave birth to a cub only hours after she arrived.

The good doctor and Good Samaritan had feared the little tiger would have to be born in a cage of the zoo, but maybe his mother knew best and was just waiting till she got to a safe place before delivering her baby. At last report all of them--mother, child and doctor--were doing well.
