LITTLE ROCK — The Democratic Party of Arkansas says Confederate monuments should be removed from public grounds and placed in museums and privately owned spaces.

The party said in a statement Thursday that "Objects that romanticize the darkest days of our history do not belong on taxpayer funded public grounds."

Confederate monuments around the country are being removed under pressure from those who say they honor an era in which African-Americans were enslaved.

Several monuments have been removed across the nation in the days since a white-nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Va., over plans to remove a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee broke out into deadly violence.

Arkansas Democratic Party spokeswoman Jessica DeLoach said there are no plans to formally propose the monuments' removal.

On Wednesday, Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson stated that racism must be “rejected,” adding that he’s against dismantling Confederate monuments erected in Arkansas.

To hell, to hell ,to hell, with Arkansas Democrats. It was their party that created the Trail of Tears, started the Civil War, passed black codes, started the Ku Klux Klan, Jim Crow Laws, screened Birth of a Nation in the White House, segregated the federal work force, refused to put the Harlem Hellfighters into combat and refused to allow them in the WW I victory parade, lynched innocent people, sent Japanese-Americans to internment camps, spawned the Dixiecrats and George Wallace, trapped African Americans in economic slavery with entitlement programs. They want to destroy their own rotten heritage, Removing statues won't change that a lick.

I agree, enough is enough. They want to remove monuments, lets start with Martin Luther King. Lets start with that monstrosity in Atlanta, and lets rename all these parks and streets named after King and rename them to what they were originally. that's just a start, fair is fare.

Interesting. Arkateacher54 makes some poignant observations which are factual and indisputable. No matter your opinion about the monuments, there is no denying the hypocrisy.

Hey Pop - Sadly the Dems nor BLM give a sh*t about black lives. How else to explain their lack of condemnation of Planned Parenthood's inordinate killing of unborn black babies and their doing nothing whatsoever to stop the violence in black communities.

I'm a black male and voted mostly democrat my whole life; I don't care one about a confederate monument getting taken down. I feel it's a part of our history. My parents who lived through Jim Crow never complained about Confederate statue. I feel this is a case of the tail wagging the dog.

I want my party to get back to working for the betterment of all Americans. KKK is wrong and are bad. Man I can't go with the way the republicons think, darn we need a people party.
