Hill, 60, is in his second term in Congress. He serves on the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services.

He spent about two decades as a commercial banker and investment manager, but his public service life is extensive.

In 1991, President George H.W. Bush appointed Hill as executive secretary to the President's Economic Policy Council. In that role, he coordinated White House economic policy. From 1989-1991, Hill was deputy assistant secretary of the Treasury for corporate finance. He represented the U.S. in negotiations with Japan in talks known as the Structural Impediments Initiative.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Hill led the design of U.S. technical assistance to eastern and central Europe in the areas of banking and securities.

From 1982-1984, Hill worked on the staff of then-U.S. Sen. John Tower, R-Texas, and on the staff of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs.

The Political Animals Club was founded by Skip Rutherford in 1983 so those with an interest in Arkansas politics could gather on a regular basis.
