Historic program to sponsor training

The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program will hold a training session on Sept. 9 for anyone interested in learning how to nominate property to the National Register of Historic Places, the country's official list of historically significant sites.

Public and private property on the National Register could mean its owners may be eligible for a 20 percent investment tax credit, federal tax deductions and federal grants when funds are available, according to the National Park Service.

The training session will begin at 9 a.m. in the Diamond Room at the Department of Arkansas Heritage Building, 1100 North St. in Little Rock.

More information is available by calling the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program at (501) 324-9880 or by sending an email message to ralph.wilcox@arkansas.gov. Registration is limited to the first 40 applicants.
