FAYETTEVILLE -- A Pea Ridge woman accused of stomping a puppy to death didn't show up for arraignment Friday in Washington County Circuit Court.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office arrested Tonia Michelle Ingle, 37, of 2735 Melissa St. in Pea Ridge last month in connection with aggravated animal cruelty and violating parole.

Ingle was set to be arraigned Friday afternoon before Circuit Judge Joanna Taylor and given a court date. A warrant for failure to appear is expected to be issued for Ingle's arrest.

Ingle went to Kevin Wilburn's home on Henson Farm Lane in Fayetteville on the afternoon of July 24 and passed out while they were talking, Wilburn told police.

Ingle started to gasp for air when he tried to wake her, so he called 911, Wilburn told police. Ingle started to yell and kick things in anger over the call.

Wilburn pushed her toward the door, but she saw the puppy and stomped on it, he said. The animal died in his hands a few moments later, according to the police report.

Ingle left in her car and called police. She met deputies at a Wal-Mart.

Ingle first said "What puppy?" when asked about the incident, but then said she may have accidentally stepped on it during the fight, according to the report. Deputies then arrested her.
