I-49 overpass work to close lanes of U.S. 62

Crews placing bridge beams over a section of U.S. 62/Arkansas 102 in Bentonville will require closing all lanes of the roadway for multiple 15-minute intervals for five nights beginning Monday, the Arkansas Department of Transportation said.

All eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S 62/Arkansas 102 between Moberly Lane and Southeast Eagle Way will be subject to the periodic closings to allow the work at the Interstate 49 overpass from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Friday, weather permitting.

Drivers using the I-49 off-ramps at U.S. 62/Arkansas 102 also may be affected during the closures and should consider alternative routes, the department said. Traffic will be controlled using barrels and flaggers.

The work is part of a $27.7 million project to widen 3.5 miles of I-49 to six lanes from four between U.S. 62/Arkansas 102 and Southeast Walton Boulevard.
