BENTONVILLE -- Work on Interstate 49 interchanges in Bentonville and Rogers will require lane closings sporadically from Monday through September, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation officials.

Crews will lay asphalt on I-49 between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday through Friday, which will require the inside and outside lanes of north and south traffic to alternately close between Southeast Walton Boulevard, Exit 85, and Central Avenue/Arkansas 72, Exit 88. Traffic will be controlled using signs and barrels.

The inside and outside lanes of east and west U.S. 62/Arkansas 102 will alternately be closed between Moberly Lane and Southeast Eagle Way between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Traffic will be controlled using signs and barrels.

The east and west lanes of Arkansas 72 will alternately be closed between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. between McCollum Drive and Beau Terre Drive. Traffic will be controlled with traffic barrels and flaggers.

Beginning Monday night through Friday, all east and west lanes of U.S. 62/Arkansas 102 will be closed for 15-minute intervals between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. between Moberly Lane and Southeast Eagle Way to allow crews to hang bridge beams at the I-49 overpass over the highway. Traffic using the I-49 off ramps at Exit 86 may be delayed and should consider alternate routes. Traffic will be controlled using barrels and flaggers.

Beginning Monday and continuing through Friday, work on I-49 will require closing the Arkansas Missouri Trail between Phyllis Street and the Northwest Arkansas Community College campus. Advance warning signs and barricades will be in place to communicate the trail's closing.

The projects are part of the Connecting Arkansas Program, which includes widening more than 3 miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends from U.S. 62/Arkansas 102 to Arkansas 72 and includes auxiliary lanes toward Southeast Walton Boulevard. Construction is expected to be complete later this year.

More information on the $27.7 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
