The Walton Arts Center honored its volunteers at an Appreciation Night July 17 at George's Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville.

Flashback provided the entertainment, says WAC spokeswoman Jennifer Wilson, and the drummer, Jeremy Hess, is a volunteer at WAC.

One hundred thirty volunteers and their guests and 42 staff members attended the event.

Five volunteers were recognized for 25 years of service: Carol Daggett, Mario Moreno, Maureen Neagle, Margaret Salassi and Marie Saliano. "They've been volunteering since Walton Arts Center opened," Wilson said.

The top 10 volunteers for the year were also announced, based on hours of service. According to Wilson, "together this group donated more than 4,600 hours to the Walton Arts Center": Jerry Davidson, Morgan Lindsey, Mike Wulf, John Jackson, Judy Davison, Beth Hopkins, James Minyard, Jacque Allen, Mike Allen and Kathy Knight.

Walton Arts Center has 180 volunteers, who have donated in total more than 20,700 hours to the organization. "That's the equivalent of nine full-time paid positions," Wilson said.
