FARMINGTON -- The 1-2 punch of quarterback JD Elder and running back Anthony Johnson was too much for Farmington (0-1), which fell handily to the Tigers at Allen Holland Stadium.
Elder completed all four passes on the opening drive and capped it off by lofting a spiral to Collin Bryant for a 33-yard touchdown and a 6-0 lead.
Elder found Demarkus Cooper for a 19-yard touchdown strike to push the lead to 20-7, then Johnson scored on a 10-yard touchdown run to give the Tigers (1-0) a 26-7 lead at halftime.
Prairie Grove's final touchdown was a 73-yard interception return by Bryant to push the margin to 33-7 early in the fourth quarter.
Johnson rushed for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns on 10 carries and also had 3 receptions for 23 yards. Elder finished 7 of 11 passing for 94 yards and 2 touchdowns.
