Thoughts on the death of Frank Broyles, Arkansas' most decorated football coach and longtime athletic director ...

BBBhog9: Thankful for all he did for the Razorbacks. Rest in touchdowns coach!

Neastarkie: As someone said in a thread a few weeks ago, his passing will leave all Razorback fans as orphans. That's how I feel.

Snout_: He moved to Arkansas at age 33/34 and you would think he had been born and raised here. ...Truly loved everything about the Hogs and their fans. What a great man!

BIGBADHAWG: He will forever be a hero to this 68-year-old Razorback fan.

Boarbarian: Yes, we are all orphans now. He loved Arkansas and her people. He never left and there were other better opportunities. He was Arkansas.

Thoughts on Razorbacks uniform styles ...

Jhawg: Those silver and red chrome helmets are sweet!

Hogmodo: Arkansas' anthracite uniforms are one of the best renditions of this fad of having a dark/black version of your regular uniform. The recruits and players like it so that settles that. I am not a big fan but, if you got to have one, ours is as good-looking as anybody else's in college football. I also like the shiny red helmet with the silver hog.

On who should be the backup quarterback, Ty Storey or Cole Kelley ...

Addhog7: It needs to be (Kelley) ... Go with the younger guy who many already say is the future.

WizardofhOgZ: I don't think it's that easy. Coaches may well think that Kelley has more upside. At the same time, I believe it is possible that they also believe Ty gives them the best chance to win a game today. They probably wish the answer to both questions was the same guy, but I'm not sure that it is.

Eaglehog: Well, my preference is not to name a No. 2 until there is clearly separation. Would love to see them both get a quarter in the opener to show what they can do.

JPRoland: I think we have an excellent No.2 situation for the first time in a long time. Here's how it works: If (starter) Austin (Allen) goes down and we have the lead and we need a game manager ... Ty Storey. If Austin goes down and we are behind and need a gunslinger, ... Cole Kelley.

On the progress of Arkansas' running game ...

SoArkHog: The running game doesn't have to produce 200 yards against the great defenses. It just has to be effective enough to make those defenses respect it and allow Allen to have the entire offense as his arsenal. In turn, that will help the porous defense by not having to be on the field as long as it often was last year.

Razorwill: SoArkHog said it best. Exactly how I feel.

Hogfanfish: The offense cannot turn the ball over. That is what killed us in the last two games. No turnovers and we win both.

Jhawg: I am not real concerned about the offense. Austin Allen will lead this offense to success. The defense is the glaring problem. What would our record have been in 2015 and 2016 if we had a decent defense? I think it cost us at least two wins each year.

Score predictions for Thursday's game against Florida A&M ...

Swine Fusion: There is no performance we can put up against FAMU that would make our fans stop worrying. Having said that, I think we run the ball at will and score a lot of points. I would say, 56-10.

Hog-N-Das: Good Guys 52, Rattlers 3. Austin Allen tosses four TD's (with one to Kolian Jackson and one to La'Michael Pettway), the D scores one and special teams set up another. Bad part: We're one of two on field goals. Dang!

LongTimeHog: Arkansas 42, FAMU 35. We still don't have a defense.

The Notorious PIG: Hahaha. Gimme a break.

Army Hog: I'm hoping it is a warm-up for our defense and at the end of the day that's the story: aggressive defense. This game will not affect the way our season goes. (Austin Allen) will shine and I hope we see both backup QB's get time under center. Hogs 49, Florida A&M 0.

Hog-N-Das: If we get a shut out, this is going to be an awesome season! Give the Rattlers a break, I think they get 3 vs. our "mop-up D."

Eaglehog5: Hogs 59, Snakes 8.

LDHog: Hogs 62, FAMU 0. Total domination from start to finish.

Regarding an ESPN survey that ranks Arkansas fans as the most disgruntled in the SEC ....

Eaglehog5: Why are Missouri fans so happy? And I can't think of anyone that would be less happy than an Ole Miss fan these days.

Jmcgee58: It makes me mad that they think I'm mad!

Reaction to the SEC Coaches' Preseason All-SEC team selections ...

Hog-N-Das: Really? Austin Allen is THIRD TEAM! That's BS!

Predictions on the Razorbacks' regular season record ...

StillGregHog: I'm going with 7-5 and a bowl win. Floor could be as bad as 5-7; high end is 9-3.

Adgedg: 9-3. We will likely know with the TCU game, followed by the A&M game. If we are 3-0, we will be 5-0 when we face 'Bama.

Jhawg: 7-5, but I really don't know who we will beat or lose to. We just feel like a 7-5 team to me.

Swine Fusion: As I've gotten, uh, more experienced, I'm less and less willing to venture this kind of projection. Not only do I not know as much about us as I once did, but I know next to nothing about our 12 opponents. The pundits seem to think we're a 6-6/7-5 type team. Do they have a clue? Dunno. Having said that, if we can squeak out an 8-win regular season I think most of our fans would be thrilled. Going 6-6, BB's seat would get warm. It's really not a huge difference between 6-6 and 8-4, either.

Neastarkie: I think we might be a better team than last year, but I'm not sure we'll be enough better against our competition to disagree with a 7-5 prediction.

Hog Treat: 8-4 or 9-3, depends on USC and Auburn games.

Colorado Hog: Like nearly everyone else, go with 8-3 to 7-4.

WizardofhOgZ: You're stuck in 1996, Colorado. We've been playing 12 regular season games every season since 2002. So I'm guessing you mean 8-4 or 7-5?

Colorado Hog: Well Wiz, guess I can't add or subtract. Didn't even think about it other than the number of wins. Will try to do better on that.

Georgia Hog: I had said 9-3 earlier in the summer. This team could be a 9- or 10-win team in about any other conference or division in college football, assuming the injury bug doesn't hit. This division is just too tough to expect 9 or more wins.

SwineIzFine: Could lose to TCU, A&M, Auburn, LSU, South Carolina and Mizzou. Coach B has a lot of work to do to prove he can coach in the SEC West.

Neastarkie: Who besides Saban has proved he can coach in the SEC West? The problem isn't the coach, it's the SEC West.
