Bentonville named Volunteer Community

BENTONVILLE -- The city was named a Volunteer Community of the Year for an eighth year.

A combined 23,522 volunteers from 49 organizations gave 400,601 hours to help the city earn the recognition, according to a news release.

The Governor's Office, the Arkansas Municipal League and the Arkansas Department of Human Services Division of Community Service and Nonprofit Support sponsor the award.

A panel of residents from across the state served on the selection committee. Benton, Clarkridge, Clarksville, Everton, Fort Smith, Greenbrier, Jonesboro, Marianna, Mountain Home, Siloam Springs and Van Buren also received the recognition.
