The Mounties (3-4) will take on Clarksville, a 68-67 winner over Carl Junction, Mo., for fifth place at 2:30 this afternoon.

Sophomore Drew Miller sent the gamer into overtime with a 3-pointer from the deep left wing with nine second left in the fourth quarter. The Mounties then enjoyed an advantage from the free-throw line in overtime. Rogers made 8 of 10, while Waynesville hit just one of five.

Mounties coach Lamont Frazier said his team played better defense in the second half obviously, limiting the Tigers (2-3) to only five points in the third and fourth quarters, combined. But Rogers also made some adjustments offensively.

"We finally had some bounces go our way and had some guys step up and make plays and consequently we got ourselves back in the game going into overtime," said Frazier, whose team averaged just 32 points a game in their three-game losing streak. "I think at that point when we can get it into overtime the momentum kinda favors you.

"I give a lot of credit to our crowd. That last 12 minutes there, it's been a while outside of a college game where I've seen a group of fans really get into it. You take a lot from the win from the standpoint, they did some right things at the right time to get themselves back into it. It wasn't a fluke. I'm proud of them, but at the same time I've got to make sure they regain focus and get ready to go again tomorrow."

Miller poured in a game-high 18 points, including five 3-pointers, while Garrett Dake chipped in 11. Juniors Carson Cavalier and Gunner Rees led Waynesville with 13 points each, including three 3-pointers each.

Waynesville took control with an 18-2 second-quarter run thanks to four straight 3-pointers for a 35-19 lead and led 37-22 at halftime. Tigers coach Chris Pilz credited Rogers with a strong second half, but said he has some young players short on varsity experience.

"We took some hurried shots," Pilz said. "You've got to tip your hat to Rogers. But our guys have to be a little mentally stronger. But then we scored five points in a half. I've probably never had a team score five points in a half. We killed the clock and got the line and missed the free throw We had our opportunities."

Rogers Heritage 43, Webb City, Mo. 38

The War Eagles (5-2) rallied from a five-point fourth-quarter deficit to reach the tournament finals for the second straight year.

Heritage will take on Fort Smith Southside, which defeated Mt. Vernon, Mo., 56-44, in today's final at 4:30.

Heritage took the lead for good with a 6-0 spurt, which ended with a driving layup by Seth Stanley for a 37-36 War Eagles' lead. Heritage made five-of-six free throws in the final 30 seconds to put the game away.

Stanley led all scorers with 21 points, while Ty Olsen added 15. Alex Pickett led Webb City, which trailed 29-18 early in the second half, with 12.
