• Russellville, the city where two toddlers died in a September apartment fire after playing with a novelty lighter, will consider a proposal to ban sales of the toy-like lighters next week, Mayor Tyrone Williamson said Monday. Two other cities -- Conway and Rogers -- are to consider similar bans tonight, according to Lt. Mark Shoemaker of the North Little Rock Fire Department. Shoemaker has helped spearhead efforts for a statewide ban. Williamson said he has asked Russellville's fire chief and fire marshal to write a proposal he can review and then take to the City Council at its Dec. 20 meeting.
