RB Gibson reopens recruitment

Running back Jeremy Gibson, who was recruited by former Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema and his staff, announced on Twitter that he was no longer committed to the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.

Gibson, 5-11, 200 pounds, of Reserve (La.) Riverside Academy said he hasn't had contact with the staff of Arkansas Coach Chad Morris and decided it was best to explore other options.

He committed to the Hogs and Bielema over scholarship offers from Arizona State, Missouri, Colorado State, Texas Tech, Utah, Purdue and several others in June.

It's not unusual for a new staff to evaluate the commitments from a previous staff and choose to not honor the pledges. The Razorbacks had 16 oral commitments when Bielema was hired in December of 2012 and only eight signed with the Hogs.

SAU's Bedford selected

Southern Arkansas University offensive lineman Dezmond Bedford will be among those competing in the D2 vs. NAIA Challenge on Saturday in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The game is part of the "International Scouting Showcase," which is comprised of three collegiate all-star games, two free-agent scout bowls and a pro-level combine over the course of four days.

Bedford, a senior from Winstonville, Miss., anchored an offensive line that allowed the Muleriders to run for 2,246 yards and pass for 2,763 yards this season.
