Buildings on Little Rock's Main Street offer school mural sites

Murals have popped up on empty storefronts along Little Rock's Main Street.

The city's Main Street Revitalization Task Force provided four high schools with an 18-foot canvas and $250 in art supplies to complete a mural.

"The idea is to give the abandoned properties a fresh look that makes the street appearance on these storefronts more welcoming," said Carol Worley, who is spearheading the project as chairman of the Main Street Revitalization-Existing Structures Task Force.

"With the murals in place, the buildings will have art as a street view instead of an empty building. Once rehabilitation begins, the murals can be moved to other abandoned buildings," she said.

The participating schools were Central High, Parkview High, Hall High and North Little Rock High.
