Police find 2 people injured in shooting

Two people suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening in a shooting early Monday in Little Rock, authorities said.

Shortly before 3 a.m., officers were called to 2011 Vancouver Drive, just west of Boyle Park, to investigate a reported shooting, a police report said.

One of the home's residents, 22-year-old Calvin Brown, was on the front porch and was suffering from a gunshot wound in the foot, the report said. A second victim, 23-year-old Tommy Hand of Little Rock, was inside the residence. He had been shot in his buttocks and back, police said.

Both shooting victims were transported to CHI St. Vincent Infirmary for treatment.

The report didn't detail the circumstances of the shooting. The suspect was listed as "unknown," and police wrote that the investigation was continuing.

Robber pulls gun, takes wallet, cash

A Little Rock convenience store was held up at gunpoint early Monday by a robber who demanded cash and cigarettes and claimed to be a gang member, according to a police report.

Shortly after 2 a.m., a male robber approached the counter of the Doublebee's at 7700 Scott Hamilton Drive, pointed a gray semi-automatic handgun at the clerk and ordered him to open the register, police said.

The employee said he couldn't do so because the computers were rebooting, so the assailant demanded his wallet, which the employee handed over, police said.

The robber kept the gun pointed at the employee and again demanded money, so the clerk broke open the register and gave the robber an undisclosed amount of cash as well as money from the safe, police reported.

The assailant left the business, then returned and and demanded a carton of Newport cigarettes, which the employee told him were locked up and inaccessible, according to the report.

The robber left, walking south on Scott Hamilton Drive, police said. The employee told police that the robber was wearing a red do-rag over his face and claimed to be a member of the Crips street gang, police said.

Officers see links in 3 hotel holdups

Three recent hotel robberies in Little Rock, including two reported Monday morning, are considered linked, police said.

One robbery was reported about 12:55 a.m. at 3801 W. Eighth St., the listed address for Garden Inn and Suites, according to a report. Another happened about 6:40 a.m. at M Star, 1010 Breckenridge Drive.

Officer Steve Moore, a spokesman for the Little Rock Police Department, said those robberies as well as a third reported about 4 a.m. Thursday at Candlewood Suites, 10520 W. Markham St., are considered related.

A suspect has not been named, and no arrests had been made as of Monday.

At Garden Inn and Suites, a 61-year-old desk clerk told officers that an unknown black male walked into the hotel, pointed a handgun at her and demanded money out of the cash register and safe.

The robber later threatened to shoot and kill the worker, then "grew tired" and grabbed money out of the cash register, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

The clerk described the robber as a black male, between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He wore a navy baseball hat, a dark hooded jacket and black-and-white "old school" tennis shoes at the time.

A 27-year-old clerk at M Star told authorities that a black male entered the business nearly six hours after the Garden Inn and Suites holdup and demanded money while pointing a weapon at him. Police, citing surveillance video footage, listed the weapon as a silver pistol.

That video also showed the employee opening a cash drawer and handing it over before the robber fled, the report said. About $460 in cash was listed as being taken.

The robber was described as wearing a gray sweatshirt, dark pants and gloves as well as a "red bandanna pulled over his face."

Early Thursday, a gunman demanded cash from an employee at the Candlewood Suites in west Little Rock, according to a report.

Boy forced into car, robbed at gunpoint

A 15-year-old boy told authorities that three robbers forced him into a vehicle before placing a gun to his head and taking his possessions, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

It happened about noon Friday outside First Presbyterian Church, 801 Scott St.

The victim told investigators that he was leaving after eating lunch there when three people called him over. After he declined to approach them, "they grabbed him and put him in the front passenger seat of" a gold Honda Accord, police wrote.

One of the robbers put a gun to the teen's head and took cash, a debit card and an iPhone, the report said.

After being ordered out of the vehicle, the teen ran to his employer in the River Market District, police said. Officers searched the area but didn't make an arrest.

The robbers were said to be black males who stood about 5 feet 6 inches tall. One had dreadlocks, and another had a cross tattoo on his face.
